Please always remember to turn off the projectors when finished with the classroom.

  

To Begin:

  1. The switch to lower the rooms screen is located behind the right shoulder of the professor.  To lower the screen open the rectangular silver door and flick the switch behind it into the down position marked by the label "Down".
  2. Turn the DVD player on by pushing the button labeled "Power" on the DVD player located underneath in the equipment rack, it will be on when the blue light under "Denon" illuminates.
  3. Turn the monitor on, this will be indicated by the green or orange light emanating from the power button on the lower right hand of the monitor.
  4. Turn the computer on, this will be indicated by the green glowing power button on the front face of the PC, or a visible CUA screen saver on the monitor.
  5. Next turn on the projector by first pushing [On] under “DISPLAY”, then [PC], on the desks control panel.  (Note: Please wait until the [On] button has stopped blinking to change sources. 

Computer Projection:

  1. Make sure the computer is turned on.
  2. If, after following the instructions in the “To Begin” section, you do not see an image projected, make sure the [PC] button is illuminated on the desks control panel.

(Note: You may also play DVD’s using the computer instead of the DVD player.  To do so make sure the computer is your selected source, place your media into the computers DVD drive, and log into your campus account.  If the media doesn’t play automatically start Windows Media Player and press play.  You may control your presentation using the on screen controls.)

Laptop Projection:

Note: All equipment will operate differently, please make sure you know how to operate your personal equipment before attempting a connection.  If assistance is needed please contact the IS hotline beforehand at 202.319.6432, or x 6432, for training.

  1. Hook your laptop, via a VGA cable, to the port labeled “Computer” on the desks control panel, this is located to the right of the six sources buttons on the same panel.
  2. Next plug the audio jack into your computers headphone port, and then into one of the two audio ports located directly beneath the VGA port mentioned above.
  3. Plug an EtherNet cord into your computers EtherNet port and the other end into the EtherNet port located on the podium’s control panel, located to the left of the electrical socket (note: you will not be able to access the campus network using this method.  If you need access to the network, to connect to your M: drive for instance, please use the computer.  This will only give you access to the internet).
  4. Push [Laptop] on the podiums control panel.  If you fail to see a picture please make sure the projector is on.

DVD:

  1. Place your media in the proper component that can be found on the shelving below.
  2. Press the [DVD] source button on the podims control panel.
  3. For DVD’s, if your media doesn't play automatically, press [Play] on the DVD player.  You may use the buttons on the front of the DVD player to control playback (note: you may also play DVD’s using the computer instead of the DVD player. To do so please see the note in the Computer Projection section listed above).

Sound:

  1. The sound should always automatically be activated when your media begins playing.
  2. To adjust levels use the volume knob mounted on the podiums control panel.
  3. If you’re using the computer or laptop you can always control your levels using the software directly on the computer.
To Begin:
  1. Turn on the BluRay/VCR player by pushing the "Standby/On" button on the front of the component; It will be on when the red light emanating from the button goes dark.
  2. Turn the monitor on, this will be indicated by a blue or orange light emanating from the power button located on the bottom right hand corner of the bevel.
  3. Turn the computer on, this will be indicated by a blue or orange glowing power button on the front face of the PC, or a visible CUA screen saver on the monitor.
  4. Next, turn on the flatscreen by first pushing [On] under “DISPLAY”, then [PC], on the podiums control panel.  (Note: Please wait until the [On] button has stopped blinking to change sources.)

Computer Projection:

  1. Make sure the computer is turned on.
  2. If, after following the instructions in the “To Begin” section, you do not see an image projected, make sure the [PC] button is illuminated on the desks control panel.

(Note: You may also play DVD’s using the computer instead of the DVD player.  To do so make sure the computer is your selected source, place your media into the computers DVD drive, and log into your campus account.  If the media doesn’t play automatically start Windows Media Player and press play.  You may control your presentation using the on screen controls.)

Laptop Projection:

  1. Hook your laptop to the cart via the VGA or HDMI cable, depending on your needs, using the cables that can be found in the cable cubby.  This is found underneath the black metal door located on the podiums console.
  2. Next, plug the audio jack into your computers headphone port.
  3. Then plug the blue EtherNet cord into your computers EtherNet port (note: you will not be able to access the campus network using this method.  If you need access to the network, to connect to your M: drive for instance, please use the computer.  This will only give you access to the internet).
  4. Push [Laptop] on the podiums control panel.  If you fail to see a picture please make sure the projector is on.

DVD/BluRay:

  1. Place your media in the disc tray of the BluRay/VCR player that can be found on the shelving below.
  2. Press the [DVD] source button on the podiums control panel.
  3. For DVD’s and BluRay's, if your media doesn't play automatically check the front of the component and check which source is selected.  Look to the right of the [Source] button, a blue light should be illuminated above "Disc".
  4. Finally, press [Play] on the BluRay/VCR remote if you media isn't automatically playing already.  You may use the remote to control playback, or the control buttons, behind the cover on the front of the component, for limited playback control (note: you may also play DVD’s using the computer instead of the DVD player. To do so please see the note in the Computer Projection section listed above).

VCR:

  1. Place your media in the VHS slot of the BluRay/VCR player that can be found on the shelving below.
  2. Press the [VCR] source button on the podiums control panel.
  3. For tapes, if your media doesn't play automatically check the front of the component and check which source is selected.  Look to the right of the [Source] button, a green light should be illuminated above "Taper".
  4. Finally, press [Play] on the  BluRay/VCR remote if you media isn't automatically playing already.  You may use the remote to control playback, or the control buttons, behind the cover on the front of the component, for limited playback control.

Sound:

  1. The sound should always automatically be activated when your media begins playing.
  2. To adjust levels use the volume knob mounted on the podiums control panel.
  3. If you’re using the computer or laptop you can always control your levels using the software directly on the computer.

  1. Turn on the laptop located on the desk at the front of the classroom.  The power button has a white dot on it and is located at the top right-hand corner near the power plug.
  2. Next, turn on the projector by first pushing [On] under “DISPLAY”, then [Laptop], on the control console located on the wall directly next to the chalkboards left hand edge.  (Note: Please wait until the [On] button has stopped blinking to change sources.)
  3. Once the laptop has booted up it will display the logon screen.  This will have two small boxes centered on the screen.  One box will be labeled "localadmin", the other will be labeled "CUA user." Press the box labeled "CUA user" and the computer will log you onto the nessecary account.

Computer Projection:

  1. Make sure the laptop is turned on.
  2. If, after following the instructions in the “To Begin” section, you do not see an image projected, make sure the [Laptop] button is illuminated on the control panel.

DVD:

  1. Place your media in the laptops disc tray that can be found on the right-hand edge of the laptop.  Eject the tray by pressing the small grey buton located on the side of the computer.
  2. Be sure [Laptop] is the selected source on the control panel.
  3. If your media doesn't play automatically once the tray has been closed use the mouse and click on the Start menu.  Scoll through the menu until you find "Windows Media Player" and press the icon using the mouse.  Once the program opens you can open and play the disc using the controls in Windows Media Player.

Sound:

  1. The sound should always automatically be activated when your media begins playing.
  2. To adjust levels use the volume knob mounted on the control panel located next to the chalk board on the wall .
  3. You can always control your levels using the software directly on the laptop.
To Begin:

  3. Turn the monitor on, this will be indicated by a green or orange light emanating from the power button located on the bottom right hand corner of the bevel.
  4. Turn the computer on, this will be indicated by a green or orange glowing power button on the front face of the PC, or a visible CUA screen saver on the monitor.
  5. Next, turn on the projector by first pushing [ON] under “DISPLAY”, then [PC], on the podiums control panel.  (Note: Please wait until the [On] button has stopped blinking to change sources.)

Computer Projection:
